August 2008
From diagnosis through treatment
and beyond....I hope my journaling will be
helpful, inspirational, and motivational to you.
It's not been an easy journey, but one that has
enlightened me in many ways.
August 12, 2008
Hello dear family and
friends,
Thank you for stopping by to check up on me :).
Today I had my hopefully annual surgical
appointment. Dr. Kosik was very happy with my
progress and reassured me that all is going very
well. The pigmentation has diminished and the
scar is fading. Eventually she says I won't even
be able to see it.
I was really delighted to hear that she was
named Chief of Surgery at our new Bolingbrook
Adventist Hospital! She's a terrific surgeon and
really deserves this new appointment.
Next month I have another digital mammogram
scheduled and Dr. Kosik wants to see me
following that procedure. If all looks good,
then I should be going to annual check ups with
her!
This is all very welcome news especially since
school begins on August 22nd! Over 100 new sixth
graders will be on our team and my summer
traveling will end. A shifting of gears and
sleep patterns will be altered substantially.
On Friday, I have one more doctor's appointment
with Dr. Welch of M & M Orthopedics. I've been
seeing him for some hand tendonitis and will be
getting a shot of cortizone in my right wrist.
It worked really well in my left wrist. Now to
get my hands functioning well especially because
of the demands of school.
I've completed my second draft of my story
submission for Chicken Soup for the Soul Cancer
Book. My son and friend from CarePages are
reviewing it and I'll put the final polish on it
and submit it before the Sept. 1st deadline. I'm
very excited and hope it will be selected!
My
Cindysangels.net web site continues to
flourish. I keep adding links, resources, and
news that may be of benefit to other breast
cancer patients, families, and survivors. If you
have special links or resources you'd like to
share with others, please feel free to email me
at
cindysangels@comcast.net . I welcome your
ideas and support to help others.
Be sure to check out the latest from Breast
Cancer Network of Strength - New "My Breast
Cancer Coach". Links and info are on my web
site. It's a great tool for breast cancer
patients to understand their disease and
treatment options.

Another change in my life is that I joined
Jockey Person 2 Person as a Comfort Specialist!
Previously I enjoyed many years with Weekenders
fashions, but unfortunately they ceased
operations in June.
Jockey seems like a good part-time fit for me.
If you're interested in finding out more, please
visit my Jockey web site at

Tomorrow I head into school to begin setting up
my classroom and in the afternoon incoming 6th
graders are dropping by to check out their new
classrooms. It will be fun seeing who will be on
my team this year.
Time to think about dinner.....that's always
last on my list of things to do during the day.
:)
Please drop me a note to let me know you were
here. I love hearing from you!
Blessings to all,
Cindy
