During my breast cancer journey, I've come across some valuable resources that I'd like to share with you. They've been a reliable resource for me and I hope they may be to you.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/01/090115103812.htm Science Daily just came out with an article that’s supporting the need to be physically active after menopause. Read how you can thwart the return or onset of breast cancer!
http://www.takingcareofyourgirls.com/ As a middle school reading teacher and breast cancer survivor and activist, , I'm constantly on the lookout for vital and informative literature for my students. "Taking Care of Your Girls" by oncologist and founder of BreastCancer.org is now available! Great informative book for young adults/women - breaking the myths and promoting a healthful life.
http://www.craftsnscraps.com/ Crafts'N'Scraps features quality made Awareness jewelry. Pink Ribbon jewelry supports Breast Cancer research. I found lovely additions for not only myself, but my granddaughters!
http://www.BreastCancerTrials.org A free, non-profit, clinical trial matching service that provides nationwide information for individuals diagnosed with or at risk for breast cancer.
http://www.armyofwomen.org/ Help go beyond a cure

The Love/Avon Army of Women offers a new opportunity for you to partner with research scientists to help move us beyond a cure. We can be the generation that eliminates breast cancer by identifying what causes this disease and stopping it before it starts. This is your chance to be part of the research that will hopefully end breast cancer.
http://www.advancedbreastcancercommunity.org/ Site for Advanced Breast Cancer Patients Launches

Breast Cancer Network of Strength partnered with 12 other organizations to create an information source and online community dedicated to the needs of advanced/metastatic breast cancer patients, caregivers, family and friends and healthcare providers.
https://www.breastcancertreatmentcoach.com/ "My Breast Cancer Coach", a support tool from Breast Cancer Network of Strength, provides a special tool designed to help breast cancer patients to better understand their illness and treatment options.
http://homepage.mac.com/cindy_zamirowski/iMovieTheater25.html May 11th, NBC 5 with Nesita Kwan aired a segment about my cancer journey. Students from my classes walked with me along with their mom's in the annual Y-Me Race down in Grant Park - Chicago, IL. Early detection is the key and with Digital Mammography I can safely say it saved my life. View the video segment that aired on Mother's Day!
http://www.carepages.com/ CarePages are free personal websites that connect family and friends during illness or injury. Through CarePages, I've been able to keep in touch with family and friends who are interested in my recovery and life's events. It has been an invaluable resource to me during my recovery. To join my CarePage, you must register. My CarePage is "Zamscorner".
http://midwest.intranet.ahss.org/services/radiology/mammography.asp DuPage Imaging Center in Hinsdale is affiliated with the Adventist Health System. I've used DuPage Imaging for many years. In fact, it's been the only imaging center I've ever used. They have several locations, but the two I use are more local for me and have Digital Mammography capability. I encourage you to always check for Digital Mammography capability. It has the clearest resolution and emits 25% less radiation than the standard mammogram.
http://www.zazzle.com/cindysangels I've designed some special logo wear and accessories to support my "Angels" in our May 11th Race to Empower in Chicago. Proceeds from the sales of my products benefit Y-ME, now known as "Breast Cancer Network of Strength"! Be sure to check them out today! Logowear is available indefinitely and continue to support the Breast Cancer Network! Thank you for your support!
http://www.y-me.org/ Y-ME began over 30 thirty years ago to insure, through information, empowerment and peer support, that no one faces breast cancer alone.

A breast cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming. Right away, you’re confronted by uncertainty about the future and questions from family, friends and your health care team. Your head is spinning, and you don’t know where to turn – until you find Y-ME.

Y-ME has been a trusted resource for 30 years and has helped thousands find the information they need to make educated decisions. From articles on our Web site to the knowledge of our Your Shoes peer counselors on the 24/7 Hotline keeps you informed. While we don’t give medical advice, we do explain in plain language the information you’re likely to encounter. No matter what the breast cancer topic is, Y-ME provides information you can trust with a survivor’s touch.
http://www.breastcancer.org/ Breast Cancer. Org has invaluable information on Breast Cancer. I researched my particular type of cancer on their site and found information on treatment options and breast cancer's latest research developments. Very helpful site.
http://americancancersociety.com/ For up to date information on Cancer, the American Cancer Society was a key resource for me. I utilized their website extensively while researching my breast cancer. It was very helpful when I met with my oncologist and radiologist and formulated a treatment plan.
http://www.thepinkbra.com/

For over 20 years, The Pink Bra has devoted themselves to infusing confidence, femininity, and luxury into the lives of women in all journeys of life. I found this site after I was fitted at "Naturally Yours" in Willowbrook, IL, and searched for additional bras. They have great pricing, which helps if you don't have insurance to cover additional bra purchases through insurance. The "Amoena - Kelly Soft Cup" has been my favorite bra. It's provided enough compression to be comfortable while it helps me to keep my Lymphadema away. There's a wide variety of bras available - check it out!
http://www.edward.org/body.cfm?id=14&oTopId=14 Edward Cancer Center in Naperville, Illinois, was the Cancer Center I chose for treatment. My mother had been diagnosed with Lymphoma two years prior to my breast cancer diagnosis, and died the year before. Edward treated my mother with compassion, respect, and dignity, and I knew immediately that it was the right place for me. My oncologist, Dr. Hantel, and radiologist, Dr. Lingareddy have been my physicians and the entire team of doctors does a fabulous job of taking care of the "whole" patient.
https://www.cancerfacts.com/Secure/InterfaceSecure.asp?CB=10 This tool helped me to work through possible treatment plans. It was very valuable when combining its information with that I received from my physicians.
www.thecrystal.com Crystal is a body deodorant for men and women and contains no aluminum chlorohydrate. It's also paraben free, hypollergenic, fragrance free, non-sticky, non-staining, eliminates odor and contains natural minerals salts. It performs better than any antipersperant I've tried! And it works naturally. It's a "healthy" choice for all.
http://www.voicesofmammosite.com/?src=ov One radiation option that was available to me was Mammosite. Here are testimonies of women who used this particular radiation therapy. I chose the traditional method of all over breast radiation because I felt it best for my needs.
Naturally Yours, Inc.

7219 S. Kingery Hwy. (Rt. 83)

Willowbrook, IL  60527   TEL: 630-570-5004

Upon recommendation of my occupational therapist, I sought out "Naturally Yours" in Willowbrook, which is on the southwest side of Chicago. They specialize in Hair and Breast Prostheses. Appointments are required and I found them to be very compassionate and helpful. They fit me perfectly for my compression bras upon the specifications my OT provided. And they handled insurance claims for payment when a prescription was written by my radiologist. They don't have a web site, but you can contact them directly.
