Lower Your Risk! A
tremendous amount of promising research
is under way to determine the cause of
breast cancer and to establish effective
ways to prevent it. Still, doctors can't
always explain why one woman develops
breast cancer and another doesn't. |

While I was trying
to determine if Chemo was a viable
option for my treatment, I found this

Arimidex is one
medication that I'm taking daily to
prevent a recurrence of breast cancer. "ARIMIDEX
is approved for adjuvant treatment
(treatment following surgery with or
without radiation) of postmenopausal
women with hormone receptor-positive
early breast cancer." |

I read an article
in the recent "Lifeline" Winter 2008
edition of Y-ME National Breast Cancer
Organization entitled "Communicating
with Children: How to Tell Them What You
Need During Your Breast Cancer Journey".
This was an important article and helped
me with communicating my illness to my
students. |

One additional
item I’d like to share with you is an
email I received from a friend
concerning the “Breast Cancer Patient
Protection Act, which will require
insurance companies to cover a minimum
48-hour hospital stay for patients
undergoing a mastectomy. It’s about
eliminating the ‘drive-through’
Mastectomy where women are forced to go
home just a few hours after surgery,
against the wishes of their doctor,
still groggy from anesthesia and
sometimes with drainage tubes still
attached.”
Lifetime Television has put this bill on
their Web page with a petition drive to
show support. Last year over half the
House signed on. I hope you’ll sign the
petition by clicking on the web site
below. You need not give more than your
name, state, and zip code. It only takes
a few seconds of your time and will help
so many women receive a higher quality
of care. It’s my hope that you’ll pass
this along to your friends and family.
Thank you, on behalf of all women!
